Esobit for Gambini: a platform for customers and sustainability

, da al , Stand

With Esobit, we’ve taken a further step toward sustainability by creating a fully online platform, accessible from any device, dedicated to our customers.
Davide De Simone, Production Manager and partner of the company, explained the challenges and goals of creating the new TBook.

What does your company do and have you ever worked in the tissue industry?

Esobit, founded about 23 years ago, provides business consulting and software development for companies in various sectors.
We support companies in simplifying processes and integrating software to improve their operators’ lives, enabling them to complete daily tasks in the shortest possible time and avoiding manual labor.
We have extensive experience in the tissue industry, which is inevitable in Lucca, given the importance of the internationally renowned paper district. We collaborate with several companies throughout the supply chain: Gambini for machinery production, but also with those who manufacture the finished product or handle maintenance.

What platform did you create for Gambini?

We created the TBook, a modular, completely web-based platform. By modular, I mean it can accommodate new features in the future and can therefore be extended with new applications to meet the needs of the clients.

The goal of the TBook is to shorten the distance between the customer and Gambini by allowing users to consult and update all manuals: machine or production line documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, any software loaded into the application and even spare parts lists.

It’s a web application that allows customers to access this information in real time: whenever there’s an update, they can download it directly from the platform.
Esobit strives to create simple graphical interfaces compatible with any device and the TBook inherits these characteristics.

What was Gambini’s need that you were able to satisfy with a custom product?

Until 10 years ago, this information was sent on CD, or even in paper form. These were recurring shipments, upon the initial purchase and then with the following upgrades. Our collaboration with Gambini began back then, when we created the first version of the TBook.

Gambini’s primary requirement was to communicate updates quickly and cost-effectively: Gambini is a company that always strives to improve and its components were – as is still the case today – constantly evolving. Every time there was a change, Gambini had to communicate the updates to its customer.

The solution we proposed at the time was effective, but it had technological limitations due to the era in which it was conceived: it consisted of a PC application, therefore not accessible on other devices, and it required an installation that was not permitted in some corporate environments, due to security policies on third-party software.

Today, we are able to offer new solutions. For this reason, last year, together with Gambini, the software designers at Esobit decided to revive this tool, enhancing it and making it more contemporary.

How did you collaborate with the Gambini team?

We’ve been partners with Gambini for over 10 years now. We work closely together and have developed these platforms together.
This new project began with an initial briefing with the technical department, during which we sought to understand the critical issues encountered by clients. Our practice is always to start with the needs of the company and its customers.
We developed a project to resolve these critical issues, shared it with Gambini and refined it together, before moving on to the implementation phase.

One of the most challenging requirements of the project was the migration of all information and previous developments into the new application and obviously, with a bit of meticulous work, we successfully completed the activities within the expected timeframe. Once the initial implementation was completed, there was an initial testing phase with Gambini operators, who validated the product’s usability and functionality. This was followed by a quick tuning phase to fix a few minor issues and some translations, given that the software is multilingual. Once everything was validated, we were able to go live and migrate all the information from the old portal to the new one.

What advantages does the portal let Gambini offer to its customers today?

The TBook is now accessible from any device, not just a PC, but also from a smartphone or tablet, as easily as any other web page. Existing features have been maintained and enhanced, streamlining the entire infrastructure and offering the user a more practical and seamless experience.
The latest version of the TBook fully meets the needs of Gambini and its customers: not only can it quickly communicate manual updates, but it can also distribute spare parts lists.
Through the platform we created, customers have access to the complete list of spare parts, can check the quantity of items installed within their line, and the number recommended by Gambini to keep in stock.

Another feature we have released with the new version is the ability for Gambini’s customers to express interest in purchasing spare parts, requesting a quote by simply adding them to a cart and sending them to their sales representative, all directly within the application.
We are very satisfied with the solution we have created: at Esobit we take care of the details and it is nice when users notice!

At Gambini, we are pursuing many sustainability initiatives, such as the digitalization of the processes. How has your platform embraced this commitment?

The TBook undoubtedly contributes to reducing emissions, effectively eliminating paper and e-mail communication.
Even the use of electronic devices significantly reduces waste, as everything is optimized within the same platform.
For Esobit, it’s essential to collaborate with companies that share these values, which we also believe in and which we have incorporated into the core values that guide our corporate decisions.
For example, we recently installed an EV charging station at Esobit’s headquarters, eliminated coffee pods in favor of freshly ground espresso coffee, we use glass cups and try to encourage reuse. Furthermore, we also have a very green office, full of plants!
Finally, we have obtained important certifications: 9001 for quality, 27001 for IT security and 45001 for workplace safety. This is a significant achievement, shared by all Esobit staff.
